He has extensive experience offering legal and consulting services across the private and public sectors, notably within the mining and energy, and transport and infrastructure domains. 

 

Over the span of his career, he has demonstrated leadership in guiding companies, overseeing legal departments within both private companies and government entities, and practicing law across various law firms. His representation extends to mining and energy companies, offering consistent counsel on the negotiation and structuring of pivotal investment agreements within these sectors. Additionally, he has directed transportation companies dedicated to advancing public transport decarbonization by strategically integrating zero-emission vehicles (ZEVs).

 

He brings vast experience and in-depth knowledge across the full mining cycle of various resources, including gold, emeralds, coal, and copper. He has extensive experience in due diligence, mergers and acquisitions, securing concession agreements, joint ventures, operational contracts, and corporate restructuring and insolvency. Additionally, he has led complex processes involving disputes over mining rights, prior consultations, and obtaining environmental permits and authorizations. Moreover, he has overseen projects aimed at enhancing the prospects of viable business cases for the electrification of public transport fleets and accelerating the transition to e-mobility within the zero-emission bus (ZEB) sector.

 

David holds a Master of Laws degree in Oil & Gas Law (LL.M.) from the University of Aberdeen in Scotland, a Lawyers’ Management Program from Instituto de Empresa (IE) in Spain, a Course in Mining Agreements from the University of Dundee, Centre for Energy, Petroleum and Mineral Law and Policy (CEPMLP) in Scotland, and a Specialization in Commercial Law from Universidad de los Andes and a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) from Universidad Javeriana in Colombia.
